Naty, Sammy, Sofi, and Melly come home!

Today was a day full of firsts! After a long day of preparation, Melly, Naty, Sammy, and Sofi were given a clean bill of health, and they were discharged from the hospital! The three little tikes left the hospital for the first time, saw the sun for the first time, and had their first car ride.

Also, Matthew is doing much better! He is off assisted breathing, and had his first bottle feeding (see pics). If he is able maintain good body temperature and eats well, the doctors expect he will be able to leave the hospital in a couple of days!

The family is celebrating the babies' homecoming, and the babies are aclimating to their new home. Who knew that tupperware containers would serve as great temporary bassinets?

Here's to the new Salinases!!!! (this is a toast and a post!)

Picture of the TV Shots

Hi Everyone, posting like mad now!
Geoff (our brother-in-law) caught a picture of the TV interview.. The Fox one was nice, they did a piece on what it is like raising quads..Melissa was very articulate as usual Posted by Picasa

Our crazy day with the TV Interviews!

Hi everyone, wow what a day..Yesterday the hospital PR staff asked us if it would be okay to do a press release and maybe some TV. Today at about 12:45 PM the hospital called and said 5 TV stations (CBS, NBC, Fox, ABC, and one other that we don't know) and 1 radio station wanted to stop by and do interviews. We said..Sure!

It was really cool, they asked us questions like how did you feel when they were born, what did you do when you found out, why did you come to Phoenix, etc..I even got in a cheesy joke about how Angelina Jolie and Brad go to Africa, we go to Phoenix for Child birth..

We just saw the 5:00 news on NBC and the Salinas Quads were on! There were lots of good shots of the babies, us and Kaitlyn..Though they cut the interview! I wonder if it was my cheesy jokes or my skillful interviewing skills (those of you in my MBA class know how well I do on camera!)

Anyways, Melissa, the babies and Kaitlyn (our niece) were the stars! The hospital is going to get us a DVD of all of the news coverage, so I'll post it as we get it. Plus they are sending the press release to all of our local newspapers, and maybe coverage on the local Detroit TV..It is fun for the Quads to get press at such a young age :)

New Photo's and a quick update

Hi everyone, everyone is doing great..Natalia, Sammy and Sofi will probably be released tomorrow!! Matthew is doing good too, he is going to come off assisted air tomorrow and will have another week or so of recovery, learning to feed, maintain room temp, etc...Melissa will also be released tomorrow, so we start on the new life!

This morning we worked with the hospital, they are doing a press release for the newspapers and this afternoon 5 TV channels and a radio station are coming over to do interviews! Once we know where and if it is on we will pass it along :)

I have uploaded a couple of new photo albums for everyone of more pictures of the quads and the family..

Thursday Night Update (from Mel)

Today was another great day. Dan and I got to visit Matthew in the NICU and hold him for over an hour for the first time. (First Picture). He is so sweet and handsome. He has wavy strawberry blonde hair and all of the NICU nurses have a crush on him. :) The doctors think it may take a few more days for his lungs to mature, and then a few days to catch up to his siblings in terms of eating and regulating his temperature on his own. They are guestimating that he may be ready to go home in 7-10 days.

Sofi, Natalia, and Sam are still staying in our room . The doctor's check up went really well - they are all eating about 30 ml every three hours. As of now, it looks like all three will be ready to go home with us on Saturday when they plan to release me. Sofi's temperature was a little low so she is in a isolette to keep warm when we're not feeding or holding her, but this is very normal and she's awfully cute in her little diaper. (Second Picture).

Samuel and Natalia have been hanging out in the same basinette. (Third Picture). They like being close to each other and are doing great. They are very stylish in their matching hats. :)

Hi from Mel!

Hi everyone! Thank you SOOOOO much for all of the sweet messages and for thinking of us. Today has been an amazing day. Natalia, Samuel, and Sofia have been in the room with us all day so we are able to feed, change, and take care of them. They are so beautiful and sweet and strong, I can't believe it. We've been dreaming of this for months and it still exceeds all expectations. The delivery was surreal, it was amazing to see so many doctors and staff working together to say Happy Birthday to each baby. Pretty amazing to hear each of the four come out crying and then to see them for the first time. It has been extra special to have my Mom, Dad, and Kelli here on less than a day's notice, in addition to Dan's mom who has been here all along. The doctors said we had an awesome cheering section in the waiting room yesterday. Danny has been to see Matthew a few times today and I will be able to see him later tonight. The NICU staff says he is doing great and is right on par for where he should be at this age (i.e., the others are just overachievers). They have ensured us that he will be fine and not to worry. I love the little picture of him with the nose tubes and Michigan cap, and we can't wait to have him in the room with the rest of the crew. :) Lots of love to all of you, we are so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family. Talk to you soon!

August 30 - The babies 2nd day!

Hi everyone, Wow what a amazing day yesterday was...I now know what people with kids meant by there is nothing like it.. A quick update..First on Melissa, she is sore from the C-section but, otherwise is doing really well. She is in the elevated care area right now, but should be released to the regular postpartum area today. The 3 babies, Natalia, Samuel and Sofia are doing awesome, they are in the regular nursery, which is almost unheard of for quadruplet! Melissa and I got to hold them last night, they are so very cute. They are all sleeping in one bassinet. Matthew (our fourth) is still in the NICU. He is doing well though. Initially he was struggling with breathing, they had him on some assisted air. Today he is back on standard air, if all goes well the next couple of days he should be released to join his brothers and sisters..I have a million pictures, with all of my excitement yesterday, most of them of the floor unfortunately :) I am going to go through them today and post them up for everyone to see..I think the family got a bunch of good shots too...I'd also like to post about the actual delivery, man that was incredible..The people at Good Sam really know what they are doing! I'll do that later too

We are very blessed, all of the babies look so good. I can't believe that this day has come!

And thanks for everyone's very very kind and sweet posts, it warms our hearts and makes us feel special..

The neonatalogist said that we shouldn't expect the babies until at least 2:30 or 3:00 PST. We're in the waiting room anxiously waiting to meet the Fab Four!
